An exotic new leisure pool complex is now open at Jonzac, (25 mins from Civrac). It is said to be unique in Europe. Called Les Antilles de Jonzac, this huge lagoon-shaped pool complete with sandy beaches, beach bar, exotic plants, waterfalls, various water features, spa pools and even a toboggan run is all under cover. There is a large outside beach and pool connected to the inside, enabling one to swim from inside to outside. A cafe/restaurant overlooks the pool area. The complex is open all year round. There are good public pools at Cozes and Gemozac (both 20 mins) and of course plenty of lovely beaches within easy reach. Watersports are well represented at St. Georges de Didonne and Royan, both excellent spots for windsurfing.
